Kids’ Chance of NC (Up to $5,000 renewable)

WHO: Seniors whose parent’s on-the-job death or catastrophic injury resulted in a substantial decline in family income.

Sun Trust Off To College Scholarship/Drawing ($500)

WHO:  Seniors planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college. 

HOW:  Go to www.offtocollege.info to enter.

WHEN:  Apply between now and May 12, 2017.  Drawing to be held every 2 weeks starting Oct. 28, 2016. You may enter once each 2-week period.


Peggy Barnhardt Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend a 4-year college pursuing a career in the field of music.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Application must be returned to Mrs. Sheets by March 22, 2017


Brighter Future Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Seniors who plan on attending Davidson County Community College and who demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, leadership skills, and good morals.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

E. Lawson Brown Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend a 4-year college pursuing a career as a teacher in public schools.

HOW: Obtain a scholarship from Student Services

Davidson County Education Foundation Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college who are in need of financial assistance. Selection will be based upon character, academic potential, and school/community service.

HOW: Obtain a scholarship from Student Services

WHEN: Application must be returned to Mrs. Sheets by March 22, 2017


Thad Hartley Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend a 4-year college, in need of financial assistance, and planning to pursue a career in the field of business or business education.

HOW: Obtain an application from Student Services

Clate F. Huffman Scholarship ($600)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend a 4-year college to pursue a career in teaching.

Wayne H. Shoaf/HomeTrust Bank Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors in need of financial assistance who plan to enter a 2 or 4-year degree program pursuing a career in business. Selection will be based upon need, school and community service, and the desire to pursue a career in business.

HOW: Obtain an application from Student Services

WHEN: Application must be returned to Mrs. Sheets by March 22, 2017


Max Walser Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend a 4-year college to pursue a career in teaching. Selection will be based upon character, academic potential, community service, and financial need. After completing his/her studies, the recipient will be expected to serve in a field that directly benefits public education in NC, preferably Davidson County.

HOW: Obtain an application from Student Services

Delta Sigma Theta Lucille Yarborough/Alice Henderson Memorial Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Senior African American females who have at least a 2.5 GPA.

HOW: Obtain an application from Student Services

WHEN: Applications must be mailed AND RECEIVED by March 30, 2017.



Allegacy Federal Credit Union Mel Hughes Scholarship ($250 for 2-year college; $1,300 for 4-year college)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend college who have a bank account at Allegacy Federal Credit Union and a minimum GPA of 3.0

HOW: Apply online at www.allegacyfcu.org/scholarships

WHEN: Application must be completed and returned to Allegacy by March 31, 2017.


American Business Women’s Association Stephen Bufton Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Senior female students who will be attending accredited U.S. colleges, universities, and community/vocational schools. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

HOW: Applications can be completed on www.sbmef.org

WHEN: Applications are due by March 31, 2017.


Martha Thompson Extension & Community Association Educational Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors who are Davidson County residents and planning to attend a North Carolina accredited college, community college, or technical institute in Fall 2017. Studies must be beyond the high school level. Scholarship awarded on basis of: Extension & Community Association & 4-H Connection, financial need, academic achievement, activities, honors, and community involvement. Priority given to applicant in Family & Consumer Science.

HOW: Pick up application in Student Services

WHEN: Returned or postmarked by March 31, 2017.


Sunnyside Ministry College Scholarship ($1,000-$1,800 per year)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college who demonstrate financial need, leadership, history of community volunteering, academic achievement, future plans, and the probability of continuing a benevolent spirit to the community and those in need.

HOW: Obtain an application in Student Services or online at www.Sunnysideministry.org and click on College Scholarship.

WHEN: Applications are due by March 31, 2017.


Wallburg Fire and Rescue, Inc. Shirley Reid Memorial Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors planning to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year program to pursue a degree in Fire Protection Technology, Emergency Medical Science (EMS), or Healthcare related fields.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Applications must be postmarked on or before March 31, 2017 to Wallburg Fire and Rescue, Inc.


New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...Winston-Salem Foundation Merit Scholarships (varies by scholarship)

WHO: Seniors who may qualify for one or more scholarships distributed via the Foundation.

HOW: Visit https://www.wsfoundation.org/page.aspx?pid=854 and fill out the one-stop application to verify eligibility and apply for them using one application.

WHEN: Deadline for merit-based scholarships is April 1, 2017. Financial-need based scholarships have a later deadline of August 15.  

Davidson County Student Information Association Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors who will be continuing their education or pursuing a degree (Associate or Bachelor’s) and have at least a 2.5 GPA.

HOW: Pick up application in Student Services

WHEN: Completed application and all required materials turned into Mrs. Sheets in Student Services by April 1, 2017.


New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...Optimist International Oratorical Contest (varies)

WHO: Students under the age of 18 as of October 1st, 2016. Must prepare and deliver own speech on the topic “What the world gains from optimism.” If entered within the last year, cannot enter again. Must show proof of age before entering.

HOW: Pick up Application in Student Services

WHEN: Take application to contest. Contest is April 2, 2017 at 2pm at the Optimist Club House in Thomasville, NC.


Scholarship Program for Children of Injured Law Enforcement Officers

WHO: Children (between 17 and 23 years of age) of a law enforcement officer who was killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.

HOW: Visit http://www.ncbar.org/memebers/divisions/young-lawyers/ if you are eligible

WHEN: Completed application must be returned to the Bar Association by April 3, 2017 to be considered for scholarships for 2017-2018 school year.


Davidson Water, Inc. Scholarship ($1,500)

WHO: Seniors will be evaluated for this scholarship based on financial need, scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities (school, civic, and community), and are accepted by an accredited four-year college or university.

HOW: Pick up application in Student Services

WHEN: Applications must arrive by Davidson Water, Inc. office by April 3, 2017.


Dakota Mills Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Seniors from Ledford Senior High School or North Davidson High School who will be pursuing an undergraduate degree at either a 4-year institution or a technical college as a full-time student. Requires recommendations and a 500 word personal statement.

HOW: Pick up application in Student Services

WHEN: Returned completed application and all materials to Mrs. Sheets in Student Services by April 3,

2017.

New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...Thomasville Chapter of the NC Retired School Personnel Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors attending a 2-year or 4-year college with plans to enter the field of education. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of financial need.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Applications are due to Mrs. Sheets by April 3, 2017


New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...DCAEOP (Davidson County Association of Educational Office Professionals) Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college. Criteria for this scholarship includes academic achievement, initiative, and financial need.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Returned application to Mrs. Sheets by April 5, 2017


SECU 2017 “People Helping People” Scholarship ($10,000 over 4 years)

WHO: Seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA and who best exemplify the credit union’s philosophy of “People Helping People.” This scholarship must go to a senior who has been accepted to one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina. Priority given to students whose parents or guardians and family members are public sector employees. **Immediate family members of an employee of the STate Employee’s Credit Union or the SECU Foundation cannot apply**

HOW: Instructions for applying can be found in Student Services.

WHEN: Essays and applications are due to Mrs. Sheets by April 7, 2017.


New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...DCCC Foundation Scholarships ($400-$750)

WHO: Seniors who plan to attend DCCC in the fall. There are several scholarships. One requires a minimum 3.0 GPA and the others are based upon financial need. Ledford can nominate four candidates.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services.

WHEN: Applications are due to Mrs. Sheets by April 7, 2017.


Thomasville Rotary Club James E Lambeth Memorial Scholars ($1,000)

WHO: There are 3 $1,000 scholarships available to Seniors graduating from Ledford HS. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Applications can be submitted to Mrs. Sheets or mailed directly to Thomasville Rotary Club and postmarked by April 14, 2017.


North Carolina Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation ($750)

WHO: Seniors enrolling in an accredited 2 or 4 year college in NC and planning to enroll in an accounting degree program with 6 or more credit hours per semester. Must show a firm intention to continue into field of accounting.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Applications must be mailed and received by the Scholarship Foundation by April 15, 2017.


R. L. Pope Bible Class Education Scholarship ($varies)

WHO: Seniors planning to attend college. Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA, participate in extra-curricular school activities, have a sound Christian background, be active in church, and demonstrate financial need.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Application must be returned to Mrs. Sheets by April 15th.



The State Employees Association of NC Scholarship Foundation (varies)

WHO: Scholarships are for active SEANC members, their spouses, and dependent children. Membership in teacher’s organizations or the State Employee’s Credit Union (SECU) does not constitute eligibility. However, state and local government employees and retirees and state university scholarship athletes are eligible to join if they so desire. There are 3 scholarship categories.

HOW: Applications are available at www.seanc.org/scholarship

WHEN: Applications must be postmarked or received by SEANC district chairperson by April 15


New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...Julia Yokeley Miller Memorial Scholarship (varies)

WHO: Seniors who have completed or are enrolled in AP Biology and are in the top 25% of the class. Must be planning to major in biology or a biology related field and have been accepted to an accredited 4-year college.

HOW: Applications are available in Student Services

WHEN: Applications must be returned to Mrs. Sheets by April 17, 2017


Memorial Golf Scholarship  ($2,000)

WHO: Seniors planning to pursue a college degree and who demonstrate academic achievement (at least a 2.5 GPA), excellence of character, financial need, and an active engagement with the sport of golf (played 2 out of the last 3 seasons of high school golf)

HOW: Obtain application in Student Services

WHEN: Applications must be postmarked by April 20, 2017


New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...Davidson County Association of Educators ($250)

WHO: Seniors planning to pursue a degree in education.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Return to Mrs. Sheets by April 27, 2017.


New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...Allison Hunt Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Seniors who have demonstrated a positive, determined attitude in response to an adversity in his/her life. Must submit an essay.

HOW: Pick up application in Student Services

WHEN: Return application and essay to Mrs. Sheets by April 28, 2017


Eta Beta Beta Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. HS Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Seniors who will maintain full time status at a nationally accredited, 4-year college, beginning in the fall of 2017. Must have a GPA of 2.5, demonstrate leadership involvement, and reside in Davidson County.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services

WHEN: Application must be postmarked by Monday, May 1, 2017.




J. Howard Coble Scholarship

WHO: Seniors residing in Davidson or Guilford county who will be attending a 2 or 4 year college. Scholarship will be awarded to one or more students who demonstrate the ideals and leadership qualities of Congressman Coble, including high moral character and good citizenship. Priority will be given to children of U.S. military personnel or U.S. military veterans, members of scouting programs, and members of ROTC programs.

HOW: Obtain application from Student Services or access application online at www.hpcommunityfoundation.org

WHEN: Applications must be postmarked or hand delivered to the High Point Community Foundation by May 10th.


B. Davis Scholarship ($1,000)

WHO: Available to all high school juniors and seniors. Not an academic scholarship, but students should include information about their current school and their future academic plans. Scholarship requires an essay of less than 1000 words.

HOW: Visit http://www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships.htm for information and to apply.

WHEN: Submissions must be emailed to awards@studentawardsearch.com by May 22, 2017.


New, New Logo, New Sign, New ...North State Law Enforcement Officers Association ($500-$1000)

WHO: Seniors who have at least a 3.0 GPA, are residents of NC, and plan on majoring in some area of Criminal Justice or related field.

HOW: Obtain application in Student Services

WHEN: Applications must be mailed and RECEIVED by June 1, 2017.


Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program ($1,000)

WHO: High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply.

HOW: Visit www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm to view the essay topic. Submit essay that is between 500 and 1000 words. Submit essay and required information to listed email address.

WHEN: Submissions must be entered by June 12, 2017



BigSun Scholarship ($500)

WHO: Seniors who are student athletes.
